I also love citroen BX, Before I buy R11, I wanted to BX. I researched it on internet and second hand dealers. Citroen hydraulic shock absorbers are very beautiful but I saw a lot of cars didnt work.

Does your cars works ?

Do you find hand made exhust for DSuper in Japan ? There are alot of exhaust workshop in here. All kinds exhaust are being manufactured by them

Yes mines work without problem. Most of problems with hydropneumatic system on BX caused by operational oil leakage. If you can do car repair, It is not so heavy.
I guess BX is cheap in secondhand dealers. Is Bx popular in Turkey?

We can find handmade exhaust shop. but most of them are racing style. So they deal stainless steel sometimes even titanium, Also exhaust sound is big and "Racy". And their products are always expensive. Because fine craftsmanship and high labor cost in Japan.
I asked and got price 1 of them. It was for my R9. When I can't find standard exhaust system in Japanese shop. The cost was over TL2,800. It is very expensive... so I bought standard exhaust from Germany.

I always hear to BX oil leak problems from BX owners. Unfortunately, BX isnt popular in Turkey but I love it. BX prices start at 1000 $

R9 exhaust is very expensive. Is the price of 2800 liras for complete exhausts. I changed rusty exhausts last year. I paid 100 $ for middle and rear pipes.

I put DENSO iridium spark plug.


Original plugs are good condition.


After exchanging, I drove a little for trial. It seems not bad. I couldn't feel big change, But maybe they are long life and give better fuel consumption( I hope it!).

Then I wash my car!

Because for last and this week. we got heavy "yellow sand（very small sand what came from China)", My car is sooo dirty... Maybe I also need change wipers.

Acording to me, you check other electrical units for example, spark cable atc..

Spark plug is verv dark, I think ignition system or carburattor mix unhealty.

And all Plugs thread are dirty, My brother's R4, too. It seems wet by oil.

But I guess it is hard to think the plugs are we by oil in plug hole. plugs don't through engine head, for example Citroen D series and some kind of DOHC engine. It's mysterious.

Hi,
I fixed trouble for electric window doesn't work.
I removed switch and trim on the door, and identified problem.
Actual problem was on connection between winding motor and cable.
I treat connector with chemical, then window works again.

I also tried identify lines on connector for switch. It has 3 + lines. I feel it is wired...

Window problems are usually connection problem. I use wd40 (chemical lubricant) same problems

Now mine R9 is well.
last month, we have meeting for French cars in Tokyo. only one my R9 was there.
Many peoples say they have seen R9 first time. One guy said, only 108 R9s were imported and sold in Japan, and now, he know 3 or 4 R9s include mine one are still registered and on the road.

Here is a photo when I went mountains in western Tokyo.



I use internet translate, maybe you are talking about traffic, Indeed we have left side traffic.
It is same as UK. and most of cars imported Europa and US were LHD untill '80.
Peoples thought LHD is "cool", It shown "I have imported car". so LHD imported car were popular on that time.
Today, Most of imported car are RHD. It gives more easy driving on Japanese traffic.

Your car is great and original looking but you must polish this car. Only 108 car very interesting I think you are one of the most important your country R9-11 was manufactured in my country about 100.000 total except those imported.

actually the wheather is foggy, it should be normal in winter...but the previous photos show the engine tempareture, it's little bit cold...

Fisrtly, Yeap, a car back of my R9 seems Legacy station wagon.

Actually condition of my car espacially interior parts are not
good as outside paiting. We face very often damaged interior
parts such as door trims, inner roof, dashbord, switches when we
buy old French car. I guess this problem due to poor material,
really headache and I hate it.
I never got this problem with Japanese car even '89 year model
mazda's small truck I bought it only $300 as second hand. I
think this problem is only with French cars...

And unfortunately my air condition system doesn't work now. I
open the window when I drive my R9.
The photo, it took at mountain area about 1,000m high, It's
rainny and foggy very often in there.

I think,R9 all problems are normal for someone living in Japan. Japan cars have very quality and long life spare parts. All Turkish renault user live in similar problems but there are alot of spare parts, alternatives parts and many many special service in my country. Actually your problems are very simple, If you were here all problems exponent maximum one or two days.

Japanese cars are usually the next cars for us. Corolla and civic most popular cars in here because it has zero problem

Indeed old car was better than today's. I have learnt with my
old citroen, GS, 2CV and DS. They are easy to repair. Namely
original planning is considered under repairing. But today's
(after '80s) are not. For today's ,Planner have to mind
production cost and easy to sales. So, Many car planned under
such consideration.
As a result, Many rubber and plastic parts are used and fixed
without bolts and nuts for cost reducing and productivity. We
face difficulty for find spare parts -like as mine R9 - also
hard to work for replacement.

Japanese cars are absolutely high quality, I agree it, but I
think Japanese cars are not always good for use long long time
with repairing like as European old car.


It's hot in Japan. It's always 30-35deg, I would fix
air-conditioning on R9, But it will be really costly...

Air condition is very important problem in here because a lot of R9 AC dosent work. There are not enough spare parts for air conditioner and very expensive.

It's really hot today. My R9 got sometimes miss-running due to heat, perhaps petrol level in carb. is not stable or petrol pump has bubble inside.

same in our office.
If your office is sun-shined, Put the thin-alminium film on
window( inside) is very effectable. I worked it, temperture is
lower than without film about 1-2 even over 3 digrees.

Maybe you can buy this kind of film as camping goods.

Colombian R9 members have been used Torica mark electirical parts. Torica was manufactured in Japan.

No, you can't see outside. It is silver film. If you want see trough outside, I recommend shading film for car.
